The 19th AOK company run in Siegen was a complete success! Around 8,000 participants from over 500 companies and teams met at Bismarckplatz to run the 5.5-kilometre course through the city center together. Among the numerous athletes were 13 dedicated UPONUs, who gave their best in summery 28°C temperatures.

The temperatures were hot but that couldn't stop our motivated participants. With cool drinks and a good dose of team spirit, the atmosphere was properly heated up before the starting signal. Whether it was running or the occasional sip of beer, our UPONUs were well prepared - both physically through intensive training and mentally through the fun of the event together.

The run took us on a long loop from Bismarckplatz in Weidenau via the Siegen central bus station back to the starting point. Numerous spectators along the route provided great support and cheered the runners on loudly. The shower that was set up was particularly refreshing and was gladly used in the hot temperatures.

Despite the hot conditions and the cheerful beer motivation, all UPONUs mastered the course and reached the finish line - without any serious incidents, only with small "bloody" memories of the run. Special mention should be made of Steve, who was the fastest to reach the finish line, followed by Thomas just 20 seconds later. The exact times of all participants will be published soon.

After the run, we celebrated our success with refreshing drinks and delicious food and enjoyed the great atmosphere at the venue. Jan and Marcel also had their very own duel after the run - this time it was about arithmetic overflows and binary calculations.

To round things off, there was an impressive firework display which many runners were able to witness on site. Thomas thought the fireworks were "not bad at all for Siegen" - a great end to a successful event!
