Siegen/Demitz-Thumitz – UPONU GmbH announces the full integration of the stackXperts team from Demitz-Thumitz in Saxony. With this strategic merger, UPONU consolidates deep expertise in open-source infrastructure to accelerate the major expansion of its cloud division and strengthen digital sovereignty in Europe.

Response to Market Changes and Dependency on American Vendors

In times of growing reliance on US hyperscalers, data sovereignty and independence are gaining strategic importance. Recent drastic price increases of over 800% by vendors such as Broadcom have intensified the need for reliable alternatives. UPONU addresses this need with the "infra:u Open Cloud Stack" – a turnkey "Cloud as a Service" solution based on the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS). The Sovereign Cloud Stack is an open standard for a fully sovereign cloud infrastructure, developed under the umbrella of the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) and supported by initiatives such as Gaia-X.

The stackXperts team was significantly involved in the development of the "infra:u Open Cloud Stack". With the integration now complete, the pace of development and deployment of sovereign cloud infrastructures will be substantially increased. Customers will benefit from an even more comprehensive end-to-end solution offering.

The goal is to provide data center operators and managed service providers (MSPs) with the "infra:u Open Cloud Stack" as a ready-to-operate solution. "Migrating to a solution like the Sovereign Cloud Stack is highly demanding in terms of time and personnel, and overwhelms many operators in Germany," says Enrico Kern, former managing director of stackXperts: "Many companies today accept the massive price increases from American providers simply because they don't know how to build their own independent cloud stack." With the "infra:u Open Cloud Stack", service providers can acquire a cloud stack set up and managed by UPONU – operated either in their own data center or on dedicated hardware in one of UPONU's data centers.
