Once again this year, over 8,000 runners gathered for the 23rd Siegerland AOK Company Run at Bismarck Square. The UPONU team also joined in with 17 motivated participants, ready to tackle the 5.5-kilometer route in great spirits and pleasant weather.
With cold drinks in hand and plenty of team spirit, the anticipation for the starting gun grew. Although the question briefly came up about why we had signed up again this year, the doubts quickly faded away, replaced by anticipation, motivation, and the determination to complete the route together.
Then it was time to go, and the motivated athletes from UPONU set off. In the meantime, Marlene positioned herself at the best spot just behind the finish line to catch the first runners at the finish. The route led from Weidenau's Bismarck Square via Siegen's central bus station back to the starting point. Numerous spectators along the route provided great support and good spirits. And once again this year, it was Steve who crossed the finish line fastest, in just under 24 minutes, closely followed by Thomas just five seconds later.
Together at the finish line, we celebrated the successful day with cold drinks and delicious fries, and of course compared the best running times. After all, it's the interaction and togetherness with colleagues, acquaintances, customers, and partners that make the company run special every year.
We're already looking forward to the race next year!
